Professor in Anthropology and Contemporary History, Blogger, Researcher
From the Netherlands
Mirjam is the core founder of Voice4Thought. As director, she is the driving force behind the organization. With great creative and social energy, she established the foundation. Originally she held the goal of uniting art and science, but she ultimately had a broader vision in mind: to offer an alternative to the academic world, providing a free space to take intellectual and artistic action in an increasingly polarized world.
Mirjam draws her inspiration from living history: social and technological transformations that she observes in her research serve as a guide for the rhythm of her life and the projects she undertakes. The rise of social media in West Africa in 2015, for example, was one of the key impulses that led her to establish Voice4Thought. Currently, she is engaged in ICT research and studying the role of social media in violent conflicts.
Always seeking ways to amplify marginalized voices, she has built an extensive network of artists, bloggers, and performers over the years. This network is part of Voice4Thought, but above all, it is part of her life, in which she is constantly searching for new adventures.
