Miguel is a rolo (a person from Bogotá) who arrived in Sibaté several years ago and settled in this town. He is a very calm, contemplative, and early-rising person: “I like to be active early in the morning to make the most of the day.”

Something that greatly helped him improve his lifestyle habits is meditation. As soon as he wakes up, it’s the first thing he does before beginning his exercise routines or daily tasks. His interest in and habit of meditating began due to a sleep disorder. He made several attempts to deal with insomnia, but nothing seemed to work—until one day, his body and mind demanded a full night of rest. He managed to quiet his mind and body, which at first caused him fear, until he allowed himself to fully experience that new sensation. After examining what that experience was, he realized it was a form of meditation that had come into his life precisely when he needed it.

Today, it’s something essential in his life and he practices it daily to stay active and present each day. This has helped him feel better about himself and with others. He says that his personal interactions have significantly improved since he incorporated meditation into his life.

Miguel is a very peaceful person and naturally good at resolving conflicts. In addition to that, he has a very detached view of material things: “This helps me a lot to be who I am, and I always encourage my family and close friends to adopt these practices in their lives.”

He really enjoys physical exercise such as cycling, going to the gym, and running. These activities became part of his life due to self-esteem issues he experienced in his adolescence, which led him into the world of fitness. It has since become a cornerstone of his life.

He believes that tranquility is the greatest virtue and the most important thing one can offer others—demonstrating that the virtue of mental peace and calmness is extremely valuable in living life in the best and most peaceful way, preventing illness and avoiding falling into monotony.
