V4T is currently looking for a promising PR assistant to support our PR team with various administrative tasks. Your work will be instrumental in the development and execution of PR plans and strategies. The ideal candidate has a fervent interest in the field partnered with good writing and research skills. You will help communicate key messages in order to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between our organization and its public. All forms of media and communication will be used in order to build, maintain and manage the reputation of our partners. These range from public bodies or services, to businesses and voluntary organizations.

The PR assistant will assist the team with searching, organizing, archiving, reporting, and distributing information on press coverage and other developments.  If you can cover these responsibilities and if you are well-organized, confident and an excellent communicator, we would gladly hear from you.

Necessary skills include

  • excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing, in English and French (Dutch is an asset)
  • competence, flexibility and a willingness to learn
  • excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask
  • the ability to cope with pressure
  • good IT and presentational skills

Essential duties of the PR assistant include

  • Keep calendars (events, press conferences, meetings etc.) and media lists
  • Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions, planning developing and implementing PR strategies
  • Assist in organizing and executions of events and campaigns
  • Draft and distribute content (newsletters, releases etc.) on several platforms (Leiden University, OneWorld etc.)
  • Edit videos and presentations as assigned
  • Answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations (often via telephone and email)
  • Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes;

Related experience and knowledge

  • Understanding of PR concepts and practices
  • Knowledge of video production and editing
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Analytical perception with an eye for detail
